Mucin 2, oligomeric mucus gel-forming, also known as MUC2, is a proteinthat inhumans is encoded by the MUC2 gene. This gene encodes a member of themucin protein family. The protein encoded by this gene, also called mucin2, issecreted onto mucosal surfaces. Mucin 2 is particularly prominent in thegut whereit is secreted from goblet cells in the epithelial lining into the lumen of thelargeintestine. The mucin 2 protein features a central domain containingtandemrepeats rich in threonine and proline that varies between 50 and 115copiesindifferent individuals.
[ USAGE ]
Reconstitute in ddH2O.
[ STORAGE AND STABILITY ]
Storage: Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.
Store at 2-8oC for one month.
Aliquot and store at -80oC for 12 months.
Stability Test: The thermal stability is described by the loss rate of thetarget
protein. The loss rate was determined by accelerated thermal degradationtest,
that is, incubate the protein at 37oC for 48h, and no obvious degradationandprecipitation were observed. (Referring from China Biological Products Standard,
which was calculated by the Arrhenius equation.) The loss of this proteinislessthan 5% within the expiration date under appropriate storage condition.
